AGPL-3.0

What you can do
✓ Use it freely
Use Prechained for any purpose — personal, research, education, or non-commercial projects. Free forever.
✓ View the source
Every line of code is public on GitHub. Read it, audit it, verify it does exactly what we say it does.
✓ Fork and modify
Fork the repo, modify the code, run your own instance. Build on top of what we've built.
✓ Contribute
Submit pull requests, add new ecosystem crawlers, improve the fingerprinting logic. We welcome contributions.
What AGPL requires
→ Share your changes
If you modify Prechained and deploy it as a network service, you must make your modified source code publicly available under AGPL.
→ Keep the license
Any distribution or derivative work must include the AGPL-3.0 license and copyright notice. You cannot relicense this code.
✕ No proprietary forks
You cannot take this code, build a competing commercial product with it, and keep your modifications private. AGPL closes that loophole.
✕ No warranty
Prechained is provided as-is without warranty. Use it at your own risk. The archive is best-effort, not guaranteed complete.
Plain English summary
🆓Prechained is free to use for anyone, for any non-commercial purpose. No cost, no account, no license fee.
🔍The code is fully public. You can read, audit, and verify everything Prechained does with your data (which is nothing).
🍴You can fork it and run your own instance. But if you do, you must also keep your version open source.
🚫You cannot take this code, build a closed-source competing product, and profit from it. That's the whole point of AGPL.
💼If you need a commercial license — to build a proprietary product using Prechained's code — contact NextGenRails™ to discuss terms.
Want to contribute?
Prechained is built in the open. Add new ecosystem crawlers, improve the verification system, or help build the API. Every contribution makes the archive more complete.
